Some of the Good Stuff is Already Happening...

Sometimes…alright, most of the time, I wake up and wonder when life is really going to begin.

It seems like lately, I’ve been surviving more than living. I’ve been going through the motions; work, gym, cook, maybe watch some TV, hit the sheets, wake up, repeat.

It’s been so easy to wallow in my current circumstances that I’ve forgotten that some of the good stuff is already happening. I despise the cliché’ saying “You’re living in times you used to pray for”, but…I have to admit that it’s a true saying in my case. When I first started using Facebook, it was more of a running diary for me, instead of a social media platform (yes, I’m cringing at how I used to use it.), and those Facebook memories are a constant reminder of that. However, it also serves as a reminder of where I used to be.

I have come a long way from the shy, awkward, unsure of herself early 20-something year old girl. Granted, I still realize I have a long way to go, but small steps are still steps. The things I’ve gone through would have taken some people out of here, but by God’s grace, I’m still here.

Hopefully the next time I’m tempted to get upset about my current circumstance, I can remember that some of the good stuff is already happening. If you’re having some trouble, here are some things that may help:

  1. Change the things that you can control, and stop worrying about the things that you can’t.

  2. Start a gratitude journal; there is more to be grateful for than you think.

  3. Realize that a bad 5 minutes isn’t a bad day.

  4. Take a nap. No seriously, take a nap.

As long as you are breathing, it’s another chance to get it right. So get to it. You got this.
